His passionate relationship with painting and sculpting began when he was a schoolboy, where drawing for him was an unfathomable source of inspiration for his journeys to the “inner world”. With a pluridisciplinary background, his quest has always been to discover and learn new techniques in artistic expression. He has successively been a painter, an illustrator, a decorator and a sculptor; he has worked on film billboard posters, has illustrated novels, has prepared accessories for TV shows, has made marionettes, assembled a publicity decor and, over a period of some 15 years, he designed and made decors and settings for numerous TV series and stage shows.
During these years, his enthusiasm for sculpting has never left him; e.g., he has admired Rodin for the vitality, the sense of strength and passion he imparted to each of his creations. Since year 2000, Yves Pirès models body forms constantly seeking that extra touch that makes the clay come alive under his finger-tips. “A delightful feeling”, says Yves Pirès “incites me to express the model’s sensuality, softness and these infinite lines that crisscross her body, dance and totally define a woman laying her soul bare”.
Eugène Durif adds – “In a second, we can imagine the sculptor oblivious to reality, forgetting where he is, caught in his work, abandoning some of his own breath, a part of his own being, to be locked forever in the sculpture …”.
Today, Yves Pirès exposes in several European Art Galleries, including the “Art Club” in Paris and Neel Gallery in Cannes.
Yves Pirès was born July 4, 1958 in Paris, France.
